The Milan furniture fair is overwhelming. First, there’s the endless trade halls of the world’s best furniture and lighting brands parked on the outskirts of town. And then there’s the hubbub of the city, where every retail window or vacant warehouse is over taken by installations, each more flamboyant or thought provoking than the other. Despite that, we have managed to find some calm. The thoughtful retrospections of Nendo Works 2014-2015 is an exhibition of Japanese design studio Nendo, with over 100 products designed for over 19 brands just in the last year. Also, the quiet and poetic usage of light by master lighting designer Davide Groppi. With these two, we pause and take a breath, and then rush on to saturate ourselves in the endlessly inspiring.
